Road Trip...

Chris has convinced me to at least visit the puppies one more time before making a final decision on whether or not to keep Lilly or getting two new puppies. So tomorrow we are going to Fort Lauderdale to do just that.
Chris, Katie and I have picked out to possible pups one from each litter to check out. The top puppy is a dark brown with white "booties" and is just as tiny or smaller than Lilly. The bottom one is a brindle color and female who I have been told will look like her cousin that I absolutely fell in love with a few weeks ago. So I am going to visit with an open mind.
They have also already been named by my loving family. Bentley (male) and Reese (female). I will definitely let you know more once I get back from Fort Lauderdale. ARGHHHH 6 hours round trip....

Her name is Lilly

Meet our newest member of the family. This is "Princess Lilly" or Lilly for short. She is absolutely adorable and so small. She is three weeks old and we will be able to bring her home in Mid March. Marci estimates her weight full grown between 6 - 8 pounds. We went to visit Marci, her husband and their 17 dogs (11 of them puppies) at their friends house in Sarasota. Not to mention their friends also had two Shih Tzus. Bear and Cleo from a previous litter of Marci's. I wish I had a camera because I fell head over heels for Bear. He was a doll. All 8 dogs were perfect.
Chris, Katie and I were surrounded by all the adult dogs just waiting to love on you. No barking, all tail wagging and so precious. We played with the dogs and held the puppies and we were there for an hour and a half. I truly did not want to leave. Katie and I are marking the days off the calendar until we can bring Lily home.

Eureka!!!!

I recently found a breeder in Ft. Lauderdale that I have been sending emails back and forth with that has two litters that were born on the same day, January 19th. It's funny her first litter was born in the morning and by the time she cleaned up and sterilized everything her second litter was getting ready to enter the world. Her website (www.shihtzusrule.com) has pictures of the two litters and OMG how adorable. Chris, Katie and I (Jeff has to work)will be meeting her and her four legged family this Saturday at their friends house in Sarasota. She emailed me and told me about her plans to spend time with her friends on this side of the state and she would like us to come over so we can see her puppies and also see her friends dogs from her last litter so we can get a general idea of what we will be getting. I am so excited. I haven't told Katie yet because she will constantly ask the same question over and over again. "How manys days is it till we see the puppies?" I know she will want to take one home then and there but they will only be three weeks old and I will have to explain to her over and over that we will have to wait at least another 5 weeks before we can bring the puppy home. Ever since my daughter overheard me talking to Chris about getting another puppy my daughter has been on us like flies on crap to get the puppy. I have to admit though deep inside I am just as anxious as Katie is. haha.....

Shih Tzu where are you?

Chris and I have been actively searching for over a month for a reputable Shih Tzu breeder in Florida. We have come across a few but they are either way on the other side of the state and provide very little information about their puppies or they want your first born for payment. I will spend up to $1000.00 for the right one. Granted we have two dogs already but we are a family of dog lovers and my daughter wants a puppy of her own. Well.... mama would love to have one too.... I am getting headaches searching for breeders. I would rather not contact any that are out of state because I truly do not believe a puppies first experience coming home to her new family is on the condition of flying in a jet all by herself. I want to be able to visit the home of this breeder, see the home in which it was raised the first 8 weeks or so and most of all see her parents and their demeanor as well as the puppies attitude while in an environment she is accustomed to. I want that love at first sight when I see my puppy for the first time.
