Riddle me this Batman...

Sorry for being away... you can blame my absence on this:

2(2x-4) - 3(4x-1) = 2(x+3)

I had my class yesterday and I know how to do this but my mind was a blank... which is not really all that unusual. I get that way when I am under pressure. Good thing I am not a 911 dispatcher:)

My son was sitting next to me making sure that I was doing it the right way and when I froze he said " looks like we need to work on your memorization skills Missy" WTF? That came from my 17 year old. I didn't know whether to be pissed or proud of him at that point so I just gave him a blank stare. Yeah... that always works.

Random thoughts

My thoughts EXACTLY!!!!!

She is her father's daughter.

My daughter, Katie, and I sat at the dining room table for about an hour doing our homework. Me and my algebra and her writing out her spelling words 5 times each. About half way through our homework session she says to me... "Mama.... you are writing an awful lot." To which I replied.."Yes, yes I am."
Katie - "Then you must be awful tired of writing?"
Me - "Katie, you are not getting out of writing those spelling words."
Katie - " Geez, MOM! That's the last time I feel sympathy for you!"

She is only 8. Oy! I am so in for it when she turns 13.

I would like to stay home...

I have been unemployed for over a month now. I have logged into the Florida data base of jobs almost everyday (weekends are my time damn it) and there is nothing out there that I am qualified for.
I have to go to the actual JOBS ETC place on Monday so that they can interview me and possibly place me somewhere. We shall see.
I actually like staying home and being there for the kids when they get home from school. I can stay on top of the house cleaning and do my homework in peace with no distractions... except for the dogs needing to go outside. So when the man of the house comes home, dinner is ready or almost ready and we have the evening of peace. No rushing around to get things done because I am just getting home myself. I am not as tired or cranky and my migraines are almost nil.
But... the extra money that I made helped. So.. I would love to stay home and make money. Any suggestions on how to make decent money by staying home? I would love for some feedback. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I hate. loathe... better yet DESPISE Algebra!

I have spent more than 24 hours (not all together) studying the chapter and doing practice problems and all the extra problems just so I can wrap my tiny mind around the "basics" and after taking the quiz and the test I end up with 43.50 out of 50 possible. That's a "B" people. I know that a B is still good but it took all that damn work for just a B. Oy... this is just the first week! I guess it's a good thing I am not working because I probably would be failing this damn course right now!!!

ok... I am done venting... I need a drink! Maybe a couple... screw it, I am going for the bottle!

Same (bleep) different day.

I have been working hard on the algebra and damn I feel like my brain will implode any second now. I am taking a break so I thought I should post to keep you all up to date.

I spoke to the Human Resource Dept ( owner's wife) on Thursday regarding the pay I received. It turns out that the owner told the office manager to inform me that he could only pay $10.00/hour. It would have been fine and I would have worked anyway... but her not telling me made me a little leery. Did she think I wouldn't have filled in? Just be straight with me and there won't be any problems. Geez.. I am not a monster and the money helped.

Yesterday, we took my parents out to dinner to celebrate my dad's 61st birthday. They had a great time and I know my parents were grateful just to go somewhere. They have spent some money on a new water heater and they are redoing the kitchen. So a break was good for them. Afterwards we brought an apple pie back to their house to eat. I would love to help them out this weekend painting and replacing the floor but this algebra is a monster and I really want to keep my GPA.. so all the studying and work needs to pay off.

Also a reminder people to submit your ideas for the contest being held for Regalo Boutique. The details are here.

Another term has begun...

hence the reason for no post yesterday. Besides filling in at work yesterday and accessing my classes, I was to exhausted to spend any time in the evening online. College algebra is going to be a hard one for me. I have no doubt that I will not complete the course but I am already having my doubts on how much of this I am going to understand. My son has already volunteered to tutor me... such an angel he is.

My software applications class is about Vista and Office 2007. I have both so I should pass this course with flying colors. I will really feel dumb if I don't:)

It was bitter sweet leaving work yesterday knowing that once again I will be without a job. The business is picking up only slightly but the techs are doing a much better job at selling their jobs than they were before. I enjoyed working with everyone and I will miss them.
The only real issue I have is that when they paid me for four days work it was not at my regular wage. Instead of making $12.50 an hour they paid me $10.oo. I don't know if they intended to do that or not. When I was originally called and asked to fill in, I was told that they would pay me cash but the amount was never discussed, so I just assumed it was at the same wage I was making before they laid me off. I would also assume that if my regular wage was an issue that they would have told me what they could pay me. So... I did place a call and spoke to the office manager and she will ask them. Somehow though I feel like a heathen for even asking.

Ok everyone, I have more reading to do so I will catch up with all of you later....
Don't forget about the Regalo Boutique contest. I am too lazy to post a link to it so just scroll down a few posts and you should find it with no problems....

Must make the noises stop....

I have been trying to go to sleep now for the last 45 minutes.... I hear phones ringing. I turn to the man of the house a little peeved that he is not answering the stupid phone and I realize the house phone nor either of the cell phones are ringing... it is all inside my tiny little mind.
What is left of it anyway. I swear since I have gone back to work to fill in for a few days, I have been having strange dreams and hearing phones and hearing radios beep, beep BEEP in my ears.
That's it I am taking something to help me sleep.... now where is that vodka?
Night all! Sweet dreams.

Now I know why I don't miss it...

that's my old job that is... It's the whining and the complaining by customers that didn't bother to listen to me in the first place. Why do people ask you questions when they are not going to bother to listen to the answer. Do we live in a nation full of morons? Do we? I can't believe how some people actually live in that frame of mind. I have had my ass chewed out and served back to me several times today.
If you would have bothered to listen to one word I frickin said we would not be having this conversation right now!
People, it is the year 2008. We are not in the 1950-1970's anymore. Shit does not come free. Inflation has hit more than a handful of times since you were working and my goodness I am sure glad you know exactly what is wrong with your toilet so why are you calling me?
Ok.. enough ranting. I have a migraine and I am going to bed. Just to wake up and deal with this bullshit tomorrow. I am such a glutton for punishment!

She never misses a beat…

Kat is always on top of things in the blogosphere. I posted the contest for Regalo Boutique last night and by this morning she already had a post about it. She may think she doesn't have the skills to enter the contest but I know she under estimates herself. She is a very gifted woman.. I mean have you seen her jewelry creations? I know she has many pieces for sale although she hasn't been able to actually sit down and create more, which she does hope to start back up in the future, when she receives the official word from her doctor that she can resume. I really suggest that you check her blog and her jewelry out! She is a single mom to two teenage sons and believe me that is not an easy thing to do. Shoot I have one teenage son and I am already pulling my hair out. Kat on the other hand rules with an iron fist but loves like no other I have seen before.

So Kat, Thank you once again for your amazing support and thoughtful words. You truly are an amazing friend.

You may not like my taste in music....

but you don't have to. I did want to inform you that I have added a play list to my blog and I do realize that some of you out there may not want to listen so of course you can always turn it off. I just want you all to know that it was there....

I am not lazy....just super busy:)

It's been awhile but I have had things to do...

I did work the one day at my previous job and it was somehow different. I mean the people were the same and the job was the same but I felt weird. Like I truly didn't belong. The techs were funny as usual and the majority of them hated that fact that I would not be permanent but I was told how valuable I am and that they are working hard to bring me back. But with all that said, I thought to myself..."Do I really want to come back?" I am however filling in again while two of the office staff go to St. Louis for a Customer Service Seminar. I have worked Friday and will be working Monday-Wednesday of next week.

The kids have already been on Spring Break and we were still able to take them to Busch Gardens on the Friday before they went back to school. We didn't spend quite as much as we would normally but the kids didn't complain. It was good that we had season passes and we spent very little on snacks and ate our main meal outside the park.

I just finished my second term of school on Tuesday and I am pretty sure that I made the President's List again. I am noticing that each term is getting a little more involved. I had English Composition and Marketing which both had term papers that were a big part of the grade and it was very intense and involving but I did receive 100's on them. I need to be able to manage my time better so I do not have to burn the midnight oil so often. My next classes, College Algebra and Software Applications will start on Wednesday, April 16th. So I am trying to take advantage of the week off.

I have come up with an idea for a contest involving Regalo Boutique and you fellow bloggers. I don't want to give too much of it away but I promise if you check back before the weekend is over the post will be up and running.

Also if there is anyone that would like to ask me question just for the heck of it or to get to know me a little better... please ask away.
